Bette McMurry of Dallas dropped out of high school and got a job as a secretary though she couldn't type. Around 1951 she invented Liquid Paper to correct typing mistakes and sold it to Gillette for $47.5 million plus royalties. She also married Warren Nesmith and gave birth to Mike Nesmith of The Monkees.
